The Ball Mount

TrailerThis is an essential item that you will need. It has many names, but I refer to it as a ball mount. This is where the ball attaches. This is the part that slides into your receiver. This is often a “2×2”, also known as a Class III hitch. Although your vehicle might have a smaller receiver than the majority of “2×2” receivers, they are still available. Now you have the dimensions. A ball mount can protrude or have a drop, also known as camber. To reach the ground, you will need approximately afoot.

Although this can vary depending on the vehicle and trailer, it should be straight. Large trucks with high ceilings will cause the ball bearings to drop dramatically. The trailer’s tongue must be level. It depends on whether the vehicle has been raised or lowered. The paths can be turned upside down. They can be turned upside down, which is why they are called lifting instead of falling.

The Tow Balls

There are many types of ball bearings available. A 2-inch ball is required for most trailers. Some trailers require a smaller ball, such as a 1-7/8” ball. For giant hangers, the most common size is 2″. You can also choose to vary the length and diameter of your ball shaft. It may be a puzzle to you why not all of them fit on the same ball hanger. To attach bumpers to tow balls, tow bars were used in the beginning. The hole in a bumper is much smaller than that in a ball carrier, so the ball rod is shorter. Chrome and zinc are also options for some tow balls. Zinc balls are less likely to rust and they tend to be cheaper. The ball’s surface is equally important.

The Wiring

You may already know the other things I’ve mentioned, but now you’re curious about how to connect the trailer cable connector to your vehicle. It would have been much easier if this had been written 20 years ago. The wiring harness for today’s SUVs and trucks comes pre-wired. An adapter may be required. Contact your dealer if you need a wiring harness. This will simplify the process. You can always add additional items, such as locks or other accessories, for extra security. That’s another topic. I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
